Sweet pongal is also known as Chakkera pongali. It is a famous South Indian sweet is traditionally made with rice, sugar and milk. Chakkera Pongal is a traditional sweet made usually on Pongal (Sankranti). It finds a place during any festival or special occasion as well.
During the Sankranti festival this dish is prepared with the harvest rice. This is a very simple and tasty dish for any time. I don’t need a reason to make this sweet dish. This can be done using any kind of rice, but using a sticky rice would keep the dish in shape. Do not use any rice that cooks dry like Basmati rice.
