Onion Chutney (Ulli Pachadi) recipe for Dosa
What do you need?
- 3 Onions
- 5-6 Red Chillies
- 1 tsp black urad dal (minappa pappu)
- 1/2 tsp Tamarind extract
- 1/2 tsp Cumin seeds
- Salt to taste
- 1/2 tsp Mustard seeds
- Few Curry leaves
- Oil to fry.
How to prepare?
- Take a bowl and fry chopped onions in a table spoon of oil, till transparent. Keep it aside.
- In the same pan fry red chillies, cumin seeds, red chillis and stir fry for a few seconds in a table spoon of oil. Add urad dal and let it turn light red.
- Grind the roased ingredients to a smooth paste, with the sauted onions, tamarind and salt without adding water.
- Heat the oil for seasoning. Add mustard seeds, when they start popping, add curry leaves and turn off heat.
- Pour over the chutney is ready to be served.
- This is an excellent accompaniment to dosa's.
