How to make Palakura Bajji ?

Spinach or Palak leaves have high nutritional value; they are a rich source of Iron and Calcium. You can prepare varieties of food using Palak like Palak Paneer, Palak Tambli, Palak Paratha, Palak Soup, Palak Rice etc. In this post I will provide you with the recipe for Palak/Palakura Bajji.


  • Bunch of Palak/Spinach Leaves (Palakura)
  • 1/2 Cup Besan Gram flour (Senagapindi)
  • 1 tsp Rice flour
  • A pinch of cooking Soda
  • Oil for deep frying

Steps to make Palakura bajji:

  1. Wash Palak/Spinach leaves with the water. Keep it aside.
  2. In a bowl mix the beasan gram flour, rice flour, salt powder with water. See to that there are no lumps in the mixture.
  3. Heat the oil in a well bottom pan. Once it is hot, dip the spinach leaves into the batter and drop them in the oil. Fry them on medium flame till golden brown.
  4. Drain on paper towel and serve with your favorite sauce or ketchup.

The batter should be thick enough so that it should stick to the spinach leaves when they are dipped in it. If it becomes too liquidly add some more flour to get the proper consistency.
