Bellam Pongali is a sweet dish which is prepared as an offering to God in almost every home in Andhra on most special occasions and festivals. This is a very simple and tasty dish for any time.
What do you need?
- 1 cup Rice
- 1/4 cup Moong dal (pesaru pappu)
- 1 cup Jaggery (bellam)
- 1/2 litre Milk
- 2 tbsp Ghee
- 1 tsp cardamom powder
- A few Cashew and Raisins
Cooking procedure:
- Wash the rice and the dal with water.
- Then cook together, with three cups of water till soft.
- When rice and dal cooked add jaggery and allow it to melt on low flame.
- Then add the milk to it and cook for another 5 minutes.
- Take an another pan heat the ghee and fry cashew nuts and raisins till golden brown in colour.
- Finally add the cardamom powder, cashew and raisins.
- Turn-off the flame and serve with ghee.
